  5.      This program MUST run from the C: drive any attempt to
  6. change that would corrupt the program after installation to run
  7. the program simply type "MM" <ENTER>
  8.      Menu Master has a number of Data and files Please don't make
  9. any attempt to alter these files it will corrupt the program and
  10. there is a good chance it could result in damage to the hard
  11. drive or The processor itself.
  12.      After the installation is complete start Menu Master now you
  13. can configure it this is a simple process complete instructions
  14. follow in this DOC.  This program is distributed fully
  15. functional, it is NOT crippled in any way nor does it include any
  16. NAGware screens, it simply has one shareware screen at the start
  17. of the program. The Registered version does have a couple of
  18. features not included in the shareware version, the lack of
  19. these features does not inhibit the program but with them
  20. the operation is greatly enhanced.
  21. You are free to try Menu Master for 30 days, if you find it
  22. useful and wish to continue using it you must register.  The
  23. single user cost is $75 (commercial programs that are comparable
  24. average $215 and don't have all the features included in Menu
  25. Master) Commercial and Site license's are available. See
  26. REGISTER.DOC for more information.

  29.                        Program Customizing
  30.      This is where you will set up the  Security information,
  31. ScreenBlanking, Etc.  The options are as follows:
  32.                [A] Customize Main Menu
  33.                [B] Customize Sub Menus
  34.                [C] Return to Nsdmenu

  37. ****NOTE**** 
  38. The Title of the Customizing menu says Menu Master 3.0
  39. this is not an error its the third addition of the customizing
  40. menu (Menu Master 1.0 had a second release of CUSTOM.EXE) and
  41. rather confuse myself I named this on release 3.0.

  44.                         Customizing Main Menu
  45.  
  46.      The screen opens up to a listing of the current Main menu
  47. listings [A] through [Z],  Menu Master has 26 Main Menu Items
  48. each with 26 Sub Menu Listings, each Main Menu Item can have a
  49. separate Password, This is the first part of the Menu Master
  50. Security Envelope, ALL Passwords, Names, and Project Numbers are
  51. case sensitive, for example if you used PassWord for Item A when
  52. prompted PAssword, password, PASSWORD, or any combination other
  53. then PassWord would fail and the user would be denied access.

  55.      Each Item field is 20 Characters long and each Password
  56. field is 8 characters long. Item Names and passwords may be any
  57. length up to the maximum for each.

  59.      To edit the Main Menu Listings you are prompted to select an
  60. Item to edit upon selection the cursor will move to the field for
  61. that item simply type in the description and press <ENTER> the
  62. cursor will then move to the password field for that Item if you
  63. do not wish to have a password simply press <ENTER>.  You will
  64. then be prompted to Save Changes (if you goofed select <N>o and
  65. the original information will be restored).  When you have
  66. finished press <ESC> to return to the Configuration Menu.
  67. **NOTE** If you wish to Delete an Item from the Menu Select the
  68. Item letter and press <ENTER> twice then <Y>es to save changes
  69. this will blank out the field.
  70. ****NOTE**** DO NOT Skip an Item Menu Master stops checking at
  71. the first Blank Menu Item. if you Skip on the rest will be
  72. ignored.

  74.                         Customize Sub Menus
  75.      The first screen you see will prompt you for the Item to
  76. edit. It will only list Items that contain descriptions in the
  77. Main Menu. After selecting the Item to edit the Sub Menu Item
  78. screen will open, here you are prompted for the Item to edit, as
  79. with the Main Menu Configuration you select the Item letter and
  80. are brought to the field.  The Sub Menu Items are listed in
  81. groups of 8,  A through H, I through P, Q through X, and Y & Z.
  82. to move from one part of the list to the next use the <PAGE UP>
  83. and 
  84. <PAGE DOWN> Keys.  The Drive, Directory, and File Name fields
  85. must contain Valid information Menu Master will check for the
  86. existence of each as they are entered, future releases will be
  87. equipped to search for drives, directories, and files, display
  88. them and prompt you to select from the list however that is not
  89. yet a feature so it is advisable that you write down the drive,
  90. directory, and file name of the programs you wish to add to the
  91. menu. If the Main Menu Item is a group of programs then here is
  92. where you list the individual files.
  93. Example:  Main Menu Item A is Utilities
  94.                The Sub Menu list for Utilities is

  99. If the Main Menu Item is a single program with Multiple running
  100. modes then you can use the Parameter field to define each.
  101. Example:  Main Menu Item B is Windows 3.0 
  102.                The Sub Menu list for Windows 3.0  is
  103.                A Windows Standard  C    Windows  WIN.COM   /s
  104.                B Windows Real       C   Windows  WIN.COM   /r
  105.                C Windows Enhanced  C    Windows  WIN.COM

  107. If the Main Menu Item is a single program with only one running
  108. mode then you still must fill in the Item Name field Menu Master
  109. ignores blank fields.
  110. **NOTE** It is not necessary to know the extension of then file
  111. simply the name you type in to run it for example if you type
  112. "win" in the file name for Windows  Menu Master will scan for
  113. then file in the designated and return with "WIN.COM" if you have
  114. selected the right directory.

  125.                         Menu Master Configuration
  126.  
  127.      This is the next phase of the Menu Master Security Envelope,
  128. here is where you set the Passwords for various functions, Create
  129. and edit the Valid User Names and Project Numbers, Turn on User
  130. Validation and or Project Number Validation, and Set the Screen
  131. Blanking time.

  133. Password for Menu Customizing:

  138. When any of these fields contains a Password, Users will be
  139. prompted for it prior to being allowed to go to the function.

  141. Valid User Name Checking: [ON/OFF]
  142. Valid Project Number Checking: [ON/OFF]

  144. When these options are on Upon startup or after Log off Users
  145. will be prompted to enter a Valid Name and or Project Number.
  146. ***NOTE*** If there are no Names and or no Numbers listed any
  147. name and or number will be accepted.

  149. Screen Blanking set (in min) for:   [5]
  150.  
  151. Menu Master comes with a Screen Blanking option to prevent 
  152. burn-in.  The range for this option is 0 (off) to 30 minutes.
  153. If the program remains idle for that period of time the screen is
  154. cleared and a little Menu Master sign flashes about the screen in
  155. random colors and locations until a key is pressed.
  156. ***NOTE*** If the User Validation and or Project Number
  157. Validation are on then Menu Master automatically Logs off
  158. requiring users to enter a Valid Name and or Number to Regain
  159. access to the Menu Master Main Menu, for this reason if you are
  160. using the Validation option(s) it is recommended that you do NOT
  161. turn off the Screen Blanking.

  165. This option is only available when one of the Validation checking
  166. Options if ON.
  167. When selected a window appears prompting you to 
  168. Modify N(a)mes / Project N(u)mbers Lists
  169. Select "A" for Names or "U" for Project Numbers 
  170. Menu Master Allows for 20 Valid Names and 20 Valid Project
  171. Numbers  8 characters each.
  172. ***NOTE*** Any Valid Name and or Number from the List will be
  173. accepted.

  175.      That about does it for setting up and configuring running
  176. the program itself is as simple as a keystroke.  I wrote this
  177. program for myself originally because at the time there were no
  178. decent ones out there and improved it when my kids started
  179. getting older to protect my computer and software.  I have since
  180. installed it in several office's Because of its security. I am
  181. aware that the price is a little high as shareware goes but
  182. considering that the closest competitor in commercial software
  183. sells theirs for $ 260.00, I feel that Menu Master is worth the 
  184. $ 75.00 I am asking. Once you start using it I think you will
  185. agree.
